Why convert HEIC to TIFF?
TIFF is the standard format for print, professional photography, publishing, and design tools like Photoshop, Affinity Photo, Capture One, and Lightroom. TIFF preserves every pixel of the decoded HEIC without further quality loss, and most legacy imaging tools accept TIFF even when they reject HEIC.
If a design or print workflow rejects HEIC (which is common), TIFF is the safe professional format.
Will the TIFF be lossless?
Yes — the TIFF output is uncompressed baseline RGB. Every pixel from the decoded HEIC is preserved exactly. Note: TIFF does not retain HEIC's alpha channel (HEIC photos rarely have meaningful transparency, so this is rarely an issue for iPhone images).
Will the TIFF be much larger than the HEIC?
Yes, often 5–10× larger. Uncompressed TIFF stores every pixel exactly with no clever compression. HEIC achieves its small size via HEVC perceptual compression, which is removed by the time we encode as TIFF.
If file size matters for transport, use HEIC to JPG or HEIC to WebP instead. Use TIFF for archive-quality storage or when print workflows need it.
Does this work with .heif files too?
Yes — .heic and .heif use the same HEIF container, just different extensions. The converter accepts both.
How many files can I convert at once?
