Frequently Asked Questions

Does resizing an image reduce quality?

Scaling down an image maintains visual quality — in fact, downsampled images often look sharper because the browser averages multiple source pixels into each output pixel. Scaling up, however, can introduce blur. For best results, always resize from a high-resolution original.

What dimensions should I resize to?

Websites: 1200px wide for content images, 1920px for full-width hero images. Email: 600px wide (email client standard). Social media: Instagram 1080×1080, Facebook 1200×630, Twitter 1200×675.

After resizing, we recommend compressing the image for even smaller file sizes. See our compression settings guide for recommended quality levels.

What image formats are supported?

You can resize JPG, PNG, and WebP images. The output format can be kept the same as the original or converted to JPG for maximum compatibility.

What's the maximum resolution I can resize to?

You can resize images up to 10000 × 10000 pixels. Scaling up beyond 1.5× the original resolution may cause visible blur — the tool warns you when significant upscaling is detected.

Is resizing really private?

Yes! All resizing happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images are never uploaded to any server.

Does this work offline?

Yes! Once you've visited the page, the resizer works without internet. All processing happens locally in your browser, so you can resize images anywhere — even on a plane.
