WebP is widely supported in modern browsers (96%+ coverage), but many apps, image viewers, and email clients still don't accept WebP. JPG is universally supported:

• PDF editors and Office apps
• Email signatures and attachments across all clients
• Social media uploads (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
• Document scanners, printers, and older mobile apps

If a destination won't take WebP, JPG is the safe fallback.

JPG cannot store transparency. If the source WebP had a transparent background, those pixels become white (or black) in the JPG output. If you need to keep alpha, stay in PNG or WebP.

Usually yes — WebP is generally 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality. Converting to JPG trades file size for compatibility. If both formats work for your destination, prefer WebP.
